Community Breaks Project

The Community Breaks Project is a new ODEF initiative. Funded by the Big Lottery’s Reaching Communities programme, it aims to benefit local people through partnership working and the use of modern technology.

Activities and services ODEF will provide as part of the Community Breaks Project:

  • an integrated support service for people who want a job, wish to improve their skills or find volunteering opportunities;
  • access to personal development courses to boost clients’ self-esteem and prepare them for work;
  • opportunities for local people to engage in community activities;
  • help for community and voluntary groups with volunteer recruitment, resources and training;
  • an interactive community website, providing online access to advice and support services, local information, social networking opportunities and a way of discussing community issues;
  • access to ICT training and low-cost computers to help bridge the ‘digital divide’.

We hope to provide you with progress reports on this project through our ‘news’ page, so please come back and find out how we are getting on.
