DAT triumph with Tesco

Following lengthy discussions with Tesco, The ODEF Disability Action Team (DAT) are pleased to announce that the exit to the disabled parking area at the New Ollerton store has now been improved. In addition, six new disabled bays have been allocated near to the store’s main entrance (Alan Knighton pictured at store). Mike Manning, Chair of DAT said: “These two actions will greatly improve the facilities at the store for disabled customers and we thank Tesco for these improvements.”

The team has also heard recently that the Asda store in Forest Town, in-line with the company’s national initiative, has introduced a £60 parking fine for anyone parking incorrectly in the disabled or parent/toddler bays. All profits generated will be given to the baby charity Tommy’s and Motability. The DAT will be writing to Tesco to ask if they are thinking of introducing a similar scheme!

The next meeting of the DAT will be on Monday 21 April at 10.30am in the Ollerton and Boughton Town Hall downstairs meeting room. All are welcome.
